Our American HQ and Operations commence

We’re combining our British engineering skills, the Western love for music, and the American dream with launching our USA-based operations. This is proof that not only IPL Electronics, but also the city we chose, are becoming major players in the music technology space. Our goal is to become a household name for every producer – from those just starting in their careers and to those with songs on the radio.

To plant our flag in the heart of the Hub City, we knew we needed a headquarters that reflected our culture. Forget cookie-cutter office parks; we wanted something with grit, character, and room to grow. That’s when we stumbled upon an underutilized warehouse on the outskirts of town. It was a diamond in the rough, a sprawling space with the potential to become an iconic start to our humbler overseas beginnings.

The vision was clear: a dynamic hub to house our American customer service team (no more late nights for our Euro base folks), distribution including inventory handlers, truckers, and storage. We’ll even house production here to proudly boast a “Made in America” flag.

There were some old, dilapidated structures on the property that were just taking up space. We needed to bring in the concrete crushers, hydraulic hammers, and bulldozers to demo the outbuildings so we’d have room to construct our HQ. That’s where our search for the best Lubbock demolition contractors began. We didn’t just want someone to knock down walls; we needed a construction partner who understood the importance of responsible commercial demolition and efficient site and project management. And boy, did we find the right team! The folks at Lubbock Demolition Pros truly were professionals. They handled everything from permits to debris removal with impressive efficiency. They didn’t just demolish; they managed the entire process, coordinating with other trades and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of construction. Thank god for them, because at that point we were still managing this from Ashford as our team hadn’t relocated yet!

With the site cleared, the real work began. The warehouse itself was a blank canvas, ready to be transformed. We envisioned a bright, open customer service center, a space where our team could connect with musicians from across the country. And, of course, a state-of-the-art distribution center, ensuring our products reach customers quickly and efficiently.

Our demolition contractor didn’t just disappear after the rubble was cleared. They became an invaluable resource, helping us connect with skilled electricians, plumbers, and carpenters. Their network of local tradespeople was essential in bringing our vision to life.

Every detail mattered, from the layout of the offices to the flow of the warehouse. We wanted to create a space that was not only functional but also inspiring. A place where our team would feel proud to work and where musicians would feel welcome.

We’re not just building a headquarters; we’re building a community. We’re investing in Lubbock, and we’re excited to be a part of this city’s incredible growth. And as we watch our American headquarters take shape, we’re reminded of the power of collaboration.

Lubbock, we’re here to make some music!

What us Brits are enjoying most in Lubbock

Right then, fellow Brits! Pack your wellies because every day I’m more and more happy with our decision to expand here!

The Weather is Proper Mental

You know how we love complaining about the weather? Well, no dreary rainy skies here. One minute it’s hotter than a vindaloo, the next there’s a dust storm that looks like something from Mad Max, and occasionally it snows in April just to keep things interesting. It’s like Mother Nature’s having a proper breakdown, and honestly, we can relate. Keeps us on our toes – just take a look here – more that those cloudy days back home.

Everything is Massive (Obviously) The portions are absolutely bonkers – one chicken-fried steak could feed a family of four from Birmingham. The cars are the size of small villages, and the sky? Bloody hell, the sky goes on forever. It’s like someone took our cramped little island and stretched it until it snapped. Perfect for those of us who’ve always felt a bit claustrophobic queuing at Tesco.

They Actually Understand Queuing Shocking twist: Americans in Lubbock actually know how to form an orderly queue! Whether it’s waiting for barbecue at a food truck or lining up for petrol (sorry, “gas”), they’ve got the patience and politeness that would make even a Waitrose checkout operator weep with pride.

The Pub Culture (Sort Of) While they don’t have proper pubs, Lubbock’s got “honky-tonks” which are basically pubs where everyone wears cowboy hats and line dances. Chances R has been my fave for Thursday nights out. It’s like Morris dancing but with more denim and fewer bells. The beer’s ice-cold, which is mental but actually quite refreshing when it’s 40 degrees outside.

The Unexpected Charm Despite being in the middle of absolutely nowhere (makes the Scottish Highlands look metropolitan), Lubbock’s got a scrappy charm that’s oddly endearing. The locals are friendlier than a golden retriever on antidepressants, and there’s something beautifully absurd about a city that embraces being gloriously, unapologetically flat.

So there you have it – Lubbock, Texas: the American city that somehow makes perfect sense to the British mindset.

This UK company is going global – how we found our American home in Lubbock, TX

Alright, music lovers! We’ve got some big news here at ILP Electronics. You’ve known us for decades now as the folks across the pod crafting top-notch amps. I know till now it’s been a challenge for us to fully support our clients in North America, especially as the demand has been so high for our amps and transformers. Of course, these are pretty big pieces of equipment so we know that shipping costs have added up when our customers are ordering from us for USA delivery. Well, we took a giant leap and set up our American headquarters in, get this, Lubbock, Texas!

For ages, we’ve been cranking out amps that have been getting a lot of love from our happy customers in the UK, Europe, and even across Asia and Eastern Europe! Let’s be honest, the good ol’ US of A, is definitely a global center for music history and the booming electronics scene was calling our name. It wasn’t a matter of if we’d expand, but where we’d land. And after a lot of thought (and maybe a few pints), Lubbock, Texas, became the obvious choice.

So, why Lubbock? We get that question a lot, and it’s a fair one.

First off, Lubbock’s got a surprisingly strong and growing vibe when it comes to electronics manufacturing. It might not be the first place that pops into your head like major centers in Texas like Houston, which is an oil industry driven city, or Austin, which is a tech hub. However, Lubbock is seriously becoming a hotbed for innovation and skilled workers. And for us, a company that’s all about precision and top-quality tradespeople, that’s huge. The fact that Lubbock has a solid pool of talented technicians and engineers, and that the city is really pushing for more tech growth, made it super appealing.

Second, Lubbock’s location is just plain smart. Smack-dab in the middle of the US, it’s a breeze to get our amps shipped all over the country. This means smoother supply chains and faster delivery times, which is a win-win for everyone. It’s also a relatively affordable city which means we can build our distribution centers in house and at a fraction of the cost of major A markets.

Third, and maybe most importantly, Lubbock just felt right. The city’s got this amazing sense of community, a real can-do spirit, and a super-friendly vibe that totally matches what we’re all about at ILP Electronics. We felt a real connection with the people here, and we were blown away by their work ethic and how welcoming they are.

On top of all that, Lubbock’s got some serious musical cred. This is where Buddy Holly, a total rock and roll legend, was born! They even have a local music venue in tribute. The city is still buzzing with musical talent. That spirit of innovation and creativity is exactly what drives us at ILP and we’re here to keep pushing the limits of amp technology. What better place to build amps than in a city that lives and breathes music?

Our new US headquarters will be home to our assembly line, our R&D crew, and our customer service team. This is a big deal for the local economy, bringing in new jobs and opportunities for the folks in Lubbock. We’re committed to becoming a real part of this community. We want to help it grow and thrive.

Plus, we know Lubbock is on the upswing, with a strong university presence. Texas Tech brings a lot of fresh talent to the area, and we’re super pumped about the possibility of working with local engineering students and creating opportunities in the electronics and music industries.

ILP coming to Lubbock is about more than just business. It’s proof that this city is becoming a major player in innovation and manufacturing. It’s a celebration of the power of music and our shared love for making music that people love. Weather at the amateur entry level or for pros that have multiple albums under their belts. And it’s a way to bring together the best of British engineering and that awesome West Texas spirit.

We’re beyond excited about this new chapter for ILP and for the growth in our company and team as we push beyond our comfort zone and meet you – our customers – with higher quality service, faster shipping times, and better prices. We can’t wait to become part of the American music scene. We truly believe that together, we can make some amazing things happen – things that will resonate with musicians and music fans all across the States. Come join us as we turn up the volume in TX and beyond!
